Curie
Terms of Service
These terms govern use of Curie by the adult account holder. Version 2026-08-20 (last updated 20 August 2026).
Who can hold an account
A Curie account must be created and held by an adult (18 or older) who is the parent or legal guardian of any child profile created under that account, or who otherwise has authority to consent on the child's behalf. Children do not create their own accounts, and by creating a child profile you confirm you have that authority.
The service, and its limitations
Curie provides an AI-assisted question-and-answer experience, illustrated "worlds" to explore, optional read-aloud and live voice conversation, and a Parent area to manage child profiles, settings and — on paid plans — a family subscription.
Curie's answers are generated by an AI model. They can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong, even when they sound confident. Curie is a learning companion, not a substitute for a parent, teacher, doctor, mental-health professional or emergency services — see AI & Safety for the limits of what Curie's answers can be relied on for.
Account responsibilities
- Keep your account credentials confidential and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
- Provide accurate information when creating the account and any child profile.
- Supervise your child's use of Curie in a way appropriate to their age.
- Use Curie only for its intended, lawful, non-commercial personal or educational purpose, and not to attempt to circumvent its safety features.
Plans, trials, subscriptions, billing and cancellation
Paid plans ("Curie Family") are billed by Stripe on the cadence you choose at sign-up. Where a free trial is offered, your payment method will be charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel first; the trial length and price are shown to you before you start.
You can cancel at any time from the Parent area; cancellation stops future billing. Refunds are handled in line with any statutory cooling-off or consumer-protection rights that apply in your country or state (for example, UK/EU distance-selling cancellation rights), which this clause does not limit; outside of those mandatory rights, Curie does not otherwise guarantee a refund for the current billing period. Curie does not itself store your full card details — Stripe does, under its own terms.
Schools and classroom use
Curie may offer separate licensing terms for schools in the future. Nothing on this page or the Schools page should be read as implying a school licence, bulk-classroom feature, or institutional data-processing agreement is currently available beyond what Curie's product features actually offer today. Contact schoolsEmail for the current state of any school offering.
Content, intellectual property and acceptable use
Curie and its licensors own the Curie product, brand, illustrations, software and underlying technology. You may use Curie's answers and illustrated content generated for your family for personal, family and educational use.
You may not resell, scrape at scale, redistribute commercially, or use Curie's output to train a competing AI product, without our written permission.
Curie applies input and output safeguards intended to keep answers age-appropriate and to refuse unsafe topics; these safeguards are always on and cannot be switched off, but no automated system is perfect, and Curie may occasionally decline a question or get something wrong.
Availability, changes and suspension
We aim to keep Curie available and reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted access; features may change, be added or be withdrawn as the product develops, and we'll try to give reasonable notice of material changes.
We may suspend or close an account that misuses the service, attempts to bypass safety features, or fails to pay amounts owed, after reasonable notice where practical. You may close your account at any time; see the Privacy Notice for what happens to your data afterwards.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Curie is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, Curie disclaims warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted availability, and Curie's aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including, for UK/EU consumers, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any statutory consumer-protection right that cannot be waived under the law of your country or state (such as rights relating to goods and digital content of satisfactory quality under UK consumer law). Where such a right applies, it takes precedence over any conflicting wording above.
Governing law and jurisdiction
Curie is operated by Friedland Group Ltd.. The governing law and courts for these terms are being finalised ahead of public launch and will be confirmed here and to account holders before launch. Whatever law is ultimately specified, mandatory consumer-protection rights that apply in the country or state where you live continue to apply and are not overridden by this clause.
Contact and changes to these terms
We will update the version date above when these terms change materially, and give account holders reasonable notice before a material change takes effect. See the Contact & Data Requests page for how to reach us with questions about these terms.
